Baroni: “A good Toro, there was the right spirit. Now let’s change gear”

There are ways and ways to get out of a competition. And this will represent a good basis on which to continue working for the future”, says Toro coach Marco Baroni at the end of the evening in Monza. “In the first half we were tidy, perhaps a little passive on the ball. Then we attacked and had a good performance: we had the right spirit and attitude.”

In four days Baroni received important responses from the team: on Sunday the victory over Lecce, yesterday a convincing quarter-final of the Cup against Inter. “Before these two matches we went through a complicated week, in which we looked inside ourselves – says the coach -: from that moment we drew a line and on this positive base that we have built we want to raise the pace. We went through a delicate moment in which we had many injuries and where the market was open, we came out of it with many things. We will work a lot on this”. Now the Granata are diving back into the championship atmosphere. There will be little time to catch your breath: today immediately training in Philadelphia, tomorrow it will already be time to prepare for Saturday’s trip to Florence. “The team must give everything and must believe in it – underlines Baroni -. We must certainly change gear, we can do more, we demand it and therefore we will forcefully seek this change”. On singles, they are high praise for many footballers. “All the new players gave an important performance. I’m very happy with Prati, he did very well and we believed in him. But Obrador was also very attentive and gave a good performance.”

Speaking of new players, Sandro Kulenovic toasts his first start with a goal: he is the third Toro forward in the last five seasons to score a goal on his first start after Karamoh and Adams. “My emotions are a bit mixed – says Kulenovic -, I’m very happy for the goal, I’m proud to be able to help the team.
