Chris Paul made it a big priority in the offseason to play near his family in Los Angeles before joining the Clippers. He will now be sent to the Toronto Raptors via trade.

The Brooklyn Nets are, according to Shams Charania (ESPN) also involved in the trade: Brooklyn gets Ochai Agbaji from the Raptors, $3.5 million and a second-round pick in 2032. This puts Toronto under the luxury tax limit.

The Clippers, for their part, receive the rights to the Serbian Vanja Marinkovic (29), free up a roster spot and save seven million dollars in luxury tax.

Paul has already stated that he is in the final season of his career and will be hanging up his basketball shoes after 21 years. The 40-year-old only made 16 appearances for the Clippers and has not played since the beginning of December. Until then, he had contributed an average of 2.9 points and 3.3 assists on 32.1 percent from the field.

It is still unclear whether CP3 will actually be used by the Raptors: Charania made it clear that Paul is not expected to appear on site. Toronto is still considering involving the guard in another trade.
