Nicki Minaj spoke out about trans issues among minors on the “Katie Miller Podcast” and sharply attacked California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Nicki Minaj opened up about trans issues in a preview of the new episode of a die-hard Republican’s podcast, attacking a senior Democratic Party politician who is a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ people.

In the almost three-minute teaser for the new episode of the “Katie Miller Podcast,” the hostess asked the Trinidadian native what was going wrong in California – especially with the policies of Democrat and head of state Gavin Newsom. Miller followed up her question with, “Is it just pro-trans ideology being forced on children in schools?”

Minaj is concerned about transgender children

Minaj thanked her for the question and the opportunity to make her point, and didn’t hold back for long. The artist “personally has no problem with the trans part in LGBTQ”. What bothers the 43-year-old, however, are operations on children – we’re talking about gender reassignment surgery, which isn’t entirely clear from the excerpt. However, in her opinion, adults “can do whatever they want, it doesn’t bother me.”

The rapper used her own daughter as an example: She would forbid her 17-year-old daughter from having breast implants inserted – which, in her opinion, “99 percent of parents” would do the same. Minaj cited “the not yet fully developed brain” in minors and “a suicide rate of 19 percent in children after surgery” as reasons against such medical intervention in children.

However, the percentage cited by the artist has nothing to do with surgical interventions on children in general or refers to gender reassignment before adulthood, but rather comes from one Long-term study about adults who have undergone gender reassignment surgery. To explain: In 2011, scientists from Sweden found that the death rate from suicide among those who had undergone gender reassignment surgery was about 19 times higher than among a control group from the general population.

In her statements, in addition to general facts, she ignores another important factor, namely the suffering of those affected and the fact that such interventions are usually carefully planned and carried out.

Reality or projection?

In the very next sentence, the singer attacked California Governor Gavin Newsom and made a series of accusations against him. The 58-year-old would “on Twitter [mittlerweile X] messing around, obsessing over Trump, wanting to take his role, trying to be funny if that’s what it is [laut Ermessen von Minaj] “It’s not like rolling around in the mud and picking fights with rappers or whoever and completely losing sight of the context.” She added in a horrified voice: “We would never want someone like that to be our president” – Newsom is considering running in the next presidential election – and described the politician as “brazen” and “disloyal”.

Trump’s top fangirl

In the past few months, Minaj has increasingly used social media to rail against everything and everyone who doesn’t agree with her after her newfound MAGA love: including reporter Don Lemon, who covered a protest against ICE. Most recently, the rapper described herself as the president’s “number one fan” at a summit at the end of January 2026 to introduce “Trump accounts” for newborns.

The immigrant, who came to the USA at the age of five, gradually distanced herself from her original democratic values, so that long-time fans – including those from the trans community – swore off their former idol on social media.
