Son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit Marius Borg Høiby broke down in tears at the Oslo District Court on Wednesday, reports Aftonbladet. He is accused of four counts of rape and several other crimes. He has not been allowed to be photographed in court.
On Wednesday, the court will deal with the rape case that allegedly took place at the home of the Norwegian crown prince couple in Skaugum Castle in December 2018.
The alleged victim was heard in court on Tuesday and Wednesday. Marius was heard from on Wednesday afternoon.
– I have been harassed. The fact that the press is allowed to sit in the hall is horrible, he said at first.
According to Aftonbladet, Marius said that he is heavily medicated and is not feeling well. He also opened up about his background. Marius does not have a royal title and has tried to live out of the public eye. He has denied the rape charges.
– I have lived a life that few here can identify with. Lots of partying, alcohol and drugs. Most Norwegians already know me before all this. But I am known for my famous mother.
December events
The stories of Marius and the woman who is the alleged victim differ from each other. According to Marius, the two had sex for the first time already in 2016. The woman, on the other hand, has denied the claim.
The court also discussed the previous exchange of messages between the two, which Marius considered flirtatious at times.
In December 2018, Marius ran into a woman in a nightclub and the group took a taxi to Skaugum Castle, known as the home of Norway’s crown prince couple. Marius said in court that he hardly remembers anything about the taxi ride to the castle. His parents were at home, so the continuation of the party was organized in the basement.
According to Marius, the two had consensual sex. Photos and videos taken of the woman, in which the woman who has passed out is touched, Marius comments sparingly.
– I don’t remember taking them myself. But we had sex voluntarily and while we were awake.
When the bonus prince was asked more about the evening’s events, he broke down.
– It is difficult to talk, Marius said at first and looked at the press.
– The press has persecuted me since I was three years old, Marius said and started to cry.
Marius is accused of numerous crimes. All in all, there are 38 charges. The trial will last until March 19.
