Eindhoven singer Lenny Kuhr announced her retirement on Wednesday afternoon. She will stop performing this year. “Filled with gratitude for such a long life, in love with the muse who always came before me, I say this with pain in my heart,” the singer said in a statement. Lenny Kuhr won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1969 with ‘The Troubadour’.
Kuhr says on her Instagram page that she is ‘grateful’ ‘for all the beautiful things she was able to share with you here in this country’. She also indicates that in addition to the health of her husband Rob, the current division in the Netherlands plays a role in announcing the end of her career now, ‘a little earlier than expected’. Rob has been Kuhr’s husband since 2003.
Kuhr will continue her tour through May 2026. “In this way I want to give you and us, my husband Rob who did my bookings for so many years, cooked for us at all the performance areas, stood behind the CD table, my musicians Freek and Frans and myself the opportunity to say a dignified farewell to each other and to the music we make and made together.”
Still a role in a political party
Kuhr is standing still on the list of the local political party Eindhoven For Each Other (EVE). In January, EVE presented the list of candidates for the municipal elections of March 18. Kuhr is on the electoral list as a list pusher.
