Past: AZ – FC Twente 2-1
The last hour of this winter transfer period has arrived. Telstar is the most active on this day with three new players, while Ajax and FC Volendam also present a newcomer.
AZ reaches the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup for the second year in a row! Matej Sin and Troy Parrott score the goals for the Alkmaarders!
Alexandre Penetra is the hero of the evening. Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro misses a cross and the Portuguese takes the ball off the line!
There is more to it if AZ plays it out better. However, Weslley Patati cannot pass the ball off to a teammate properly and the score therefore remains 2-1.
On the other hand, the Alkmaarders have an angel on the bar. The ball first hits the post and the second attempt is saved via Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro. What a tension…
Leeroy Echteld changes his team again. Rio Robbemond (the son of former footballer Reinier) makes his debut for AZ and replaces Kasper Boogaard.
The first half of extra time is over. AZ leads 2-1 after Troy Parrott’s goal.
Due to all the commotion, at least three minutes are added in this first half of extra time.
Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro is again of world importance for AZ by saving twice in quick succession on attempts by FC Twente. It remains extremely exciting.
It’s Troy Parrott who scores! The ball hangs in front of the goal and the Irishman whines the ball behind goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall. The VAR will check for offside, but the goal will stand. It’s 2-1!
Jizz Hornkamp suddenly tries to outwit the Twente goalkeeper from the halfway line. His attempt goes, but just over the goal. That really makes very little difference.
The first half of extra time starts in Alkmaar.
There are three minutes left in regular playing time. There will then be an extension.
Can AZ still score in the final phase of this match? Time is really running out now.
Daan Rots shoots the ball from very close range onto the crossbar. AZ does very well there. Will there be a winner in regular playing time? You can of course follow any extra time and penalty shootout with us!
Weslley Patati, Jizz Hornkamp and Ro-Zangelo Daal can make an appearance for Leeroy Echteld. Isak Jensen, Ibrahim Sadiq and Matej Sin leave.
There is FC Twente’s equalizer. Sondre Ørjasæter gives a fine cross and Kristian Hlynsson heads in: 1-1. This goal will still stand.
Seiya Maikuma, who makes his starting return, goes to the side for Mateo Chávez. The Japanese will play from the kick-off at AZ for the first time since May last year.
Ibrahim Sadiq happens to get the ball at his feet and has plenty of time to look for an angle. He spoons the ball towards the goal and fools part of the stadium. However, his attempt goes wide.
A little later the Ghanaian gets an even bigger chance. The ball comes to him from a throw-in and shoots towards the goal from the spin. However, goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall can save the day.
There is FC Twente’s equalizer. A shot by Robin Pröpper is extended by Sam Lammers and Mats Rots shoots the ball into the goal in two instances. The VAR quickly sees that it is offside and a line goes through the goal.
One half still separates AZ from the second consecutive semi-final in the KNVB Cup. We have started the second half.
Goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro proves his worth here. Kristian Hlynsson gives Sam Lammers an unmissable opportunity, but the striker cannot get the ball past Owusu-Oduro.
There are at least two minutes left in this half. Will there be another goal?
A great heading opportunity for AZ. Kasper Boogaard delivers a delicate pass to Troy Parrott and the Irishman heads just wide. Shame.
On the other hand, Ramiz Zerrouki heads just over from close range. The chances now increase slightly just before half-time.
Almost out of nowhere, FC Twente gets a great opportunity through Kristian Hlynsson. However, he fails face to face with goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro. After that big chance, both teams can’t create much.
Besides the AZ goal, it is still scraping for opportunities in Alkmaar. Hopefully that will change in the rest of the first half.
AZ quickly takes the lead against FC Twente. Matej Sin scored the opening goal after an assist from Troy Parrott. What a wealth!
