The second day of the UEC 2026 European Track Cycling Championship, held in Konya between 1-5 February, was completed with the end of the evening session.
The evening session, which started with the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Women’s Individual Sprint Race, opened with the announcement of the athletes who advanced to the semi-finals. While the session continued with the men’s points race, the program continued with the men’s time trial final. The second session of the day ended with the women’s and men’s team pursuit finals.
WORLD RECORDS AND STAR NAMES FEATURED AT KONYA VELODROM
The gold medal fight in the Women’s Team Pursuit finals was breathtaking. Great Britain took first place against Germany by breaking the world record with a time of 4:02.808. Having broken the world record with a time of 4:03.634 in the first session, Great Britain renewed its own record by improving this time in the second session.
Tim Torn Teutenberg, who won the championship in the elimination and madison disciplines at the 2025 European Championship, continued his consistent success in track cycling by taking first place in the points race this year.
Joseph Truman, who won the bronze medal in the 2024 UCI Elite Cycling World Championship time trial, reached the gold medal with his performance at the 2026 UEC European Track Cycling Championship. With this result he achieved at the Konya Olympic Velodrome, Truman added another important European championship to his career.
Lotte Kopecky, one of the legendary names of road and track cycling, won the gold medal with her superior performance in the Women’s Elimination race. Standing out with his experience and dominance in the race, Kopecky showed his class once again at the Konya Olympic Velodrome.
In the Women’s Individual Sprint races, Emma Finucane (Great Britain), Alina Lysenko (AIN), Sophie Capewell (Great Britain) and Lea Sophie Friedrich (Germany) became the names who advanced to the finals after their semi-final races.
The result of Denmark, which achieved a world record in the Men’s Team Pursuit qualifiers, was not considered valid in the first evaluation due to rule violation. With the decision taken after the examinations, the time of 3:39.977 was registered as a world record.

Our national athlete Mustafa Tarakçı in the Men’s Points Race and Fatmanur Doğan in the Elimination Race represented Türkiye in the championship with their performance against Europe’s leading athletes.
