Windfall from Scotland

©IMAGO

Hansa Rostock can look forward to a warm windfall from Scotland as Ryan Naderi is moving to Glasgow Rangers. The Scottish giants confirmed the transfer late last night on Deadline Day. As “Sky” reports, the club from the Hanseatic city receives a transfer fee of 5.5 million euros, which can rise to 6 million euros with bonus payments. This is not only a record for Hansa, but also for the 3rd league.

Naderi, who has signed a long-term contract, came to the Baltic Sea from Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer of 2024 for 200,000 euros. This season, the German-Czech is one of the best scorers in the third division with eight goals and five assists in 18 games. It increased its market value from 350,000 to 1.2 million euros in December. After a year and a half, the people of Rostock will receive 30 times the transfer fee paid.

About a week ago, Sky reported that Glasgow had offered 3 million euros – Hansa sports director Amir Shapourzadeh remained steadfast and gave FCH the biggest deal in the club’s history. Naderi replaces Victor Agali, who moved to FC Schalke for 5.1 million euros in the 2001/02 season.

There has never been a transfer of this magnitude in the 3rd league. The record holder since 2023 has been Hendry Blank, who moved from BVB to Red Bull Salzburg for 4 million euros. Also in second and third place are ex-Gladbacher Yannik Engelhardt and ex-Bayer Georg Niedermeier, players who were sold by Bundesliga clubs’ U23 teams. Hansa is setting new standards with Naderi (statistics: record transfers in the 3rd league).

Hansa Rostock declares late sale of Ryan Naderi to Rangers

“The offer from Rangers Football Club has reached a dimension that a third division team cannot refuse,” said CEO Ronald Maul in the Rostock statement. “Despite all the economic importance, the player was always the focus of our considerations. Ryan Naderi is young, talented and has a great career ahead of him. He wants to take the opportunity to play internationally and prove himself on a big stage at a club like Rangers Football Club. We couldn’t and didn’t want to deny him this dream. We know about his talent and qualities, but we have full confidence in our squad.”

FCH managing director Amir Shapourzadeh added: “When I took office, I said that we have the clear goal of making Hansa Rostock once again an attractive address for highly talented players from the region, all of Germany and abroad. Ryan Naderi’s record transfer is proof that we are on the right track to creating value for the club again. My thanks therefore also go to the excellent work of our scouting department, which discovered this extraordinary talent, and to ours “We would of course have liked to keep Ryan Naderi. At the same time, we as a club are obliged to take economic aspects into account. Even without him, we will not lose sight of our sporting goals.”
