The fire started in the home of a neighbor of Patty Klausener. She was one of the residents who was evacuated on the night from Friday to Saturday. With help of an aerial work platform she and her children were brought to safety.
After a short hospital visit – due to smoke inhalation – she was taken to a hotel in Den Helder, where she still resides.
Fire affected ‘completely upset’
On Sunday she was able to go to her rental house to pick up some things. “Fortunately, the damage in the house is not too bad, as far as I could see. Only soot damage. But we cannot enter our house yet,” Patty said on Monday.
“The other residents of the apartment are also still in the hotel,” says Patty, “including the resident of the burned down house. He is completely upset.”
The police indicate that investigations have shown that no identifiable cause has been found for the fire and that arson is not suspected.
