Less than 24 hours after winning his eighth cyclo-cross world title, Mathieu van der Poel is back on a track, this time a ski track. The newly crowned champion has traded his bike for skis and is enjoying a short holiday in Livigno, Italy. Let’s catch our breath before the preparation for the road season begins.
As he had previously announced, Van der Poel is giving himself a few days of rest after his historic victory. In Livigno he doesn’t just try the regular slopes, but the challenging heli-skiing: up by helicopter and then make the descent himself.
Possible debut in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
After his short trip to the snow, Van der Poel travels to Spain to prepare for spring on the road. His debut in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad may be scheduled for the end of February.
