In Melbourne at the Australian Open, Casper Ruud was denied a big victory. Privately, things look completely different, as he now announced on social media.

Casper Ruud has announced the birth of his first child. According to the 27-year-old, the daughter of the ninth in the world tennis rankings was born on January 30th. He announced the news on Instagram with a picture of his index finger being clasped in his daughter’s hand.

Ruud wrote in English: “Thank you for all the wonderful news in the last few weeks. Maria and our baby are doing well.” He also wrote on Twitter: “Best feeling ever.”

After all, Ruud was there when their daughter was born. Because if he had gone far at the Australian Open, he could well have missed the birth of his daughter. In the end he failed in the round of 16 against Ben Shelton (6:3, 4:6, 3:6, 4:6), four days before the birth of his daughter.

In an interview with “ATP” before the start of the tournament, he explained: “It can always be when I come back that she will be there.” He always knew that everything would go well, but at the same time one thought was present: “The next time I leave the house, there might be a new person there.”

It was already clear to him back then that the daughter would be small and sweet. At the same time, he hopes that he and his wife can “bring her and his wife to the tournaments together” and be “a happy family” as they travel together to the tournaments that make sense for the family.
