Today too, there will be fewer trains running between Amsterdam and Utrecht all day long. ProRail and NS are still struggling with two broken switches at Duivendrecht. Restoring it is “complex”, reports rail manager ProRail. The trains can run over the switches, but at a lower speed.
The problems with the two switches arose on Thursday. A switch was rejected, the trains could no longer run over it. A second one can still be ridden, but at a lower speed. Repair was then unsuccessful.
The rejected switch was adjusted on Friday so that it can be used again. But with a speed limit of 40 kilometers per hour.
ProRail will re-examine with the contractor how the problems can be resolved.
