The former Rosanero and Grifone midfielder now coaches Elfsborg, from which he must quickly free himself to return to Italy as coach
The decision to sack Alberto Gilardino was not in the plans, it came about after long reflection. The proof is that there were no names ready to replace him. The search for Pisa managers only started afterwards, once things were done. Giampaolo was the first idea, the most discussed, but in the end the agreement was not found. No agreement and everything to do again. Thus the Tuscan general staff broadened their horizons and sought new paths. And it seems to have found it abroad. This is the Swede Oscar Hiljemark, an old acquaintance of Italian football as he played a season and a half in Palermo (from summer 2015 to January 2017) and then went to Genoa, where he stayed for a couple of years. Hiljemark is currently the coach at Elfsborg, he would have given his consent to return to Italy to take over as coach of Pisa and is now waiting to be released by the Swedish club, with whom he must reach an agreement.
Pisa, the business is needed

The Tuscans had already looked for him in the summer, but Elfsborg had made a wall. Hiljemark ended his career as a footballer very early: at just 28 years old, in 2021, after an endless series of injuries, the most recurrent of which was the hip. Immediately afterwards he embarked on the path of coaching by joining the Danish team Aalborg. If everything is resolved with a white smoke, it will be up to him to lead Pisa in a desperate search for salvation. After the defeat against Sassuolo which cost Alberto Gilardino his bench, the Tuscans are expected by Verona on Friday evening at the Bentegodi, perhaps the very last chance to continue to hope to maintain the category they have rediscovered after 34 years.
