The star striker of Tampere Ilves Matias Mantykivi has been banned for one match for Saturday’s events.
The league’s disciplinary delegation considered that Mäntykivi tried to kick KalPa Andreas Okanya towards. Mantykivi responded to the discipline that he tried to kick Okany’s stick, not the player himself.
– When Okany is getting up from the ice, Mäntykivi performs a wide-arcing and powerful kick with his right foot. In the kick, Mäntykivi’s leg swings close to Okany, who is frozen and rising up. The kick does not hit Okany or his stick.
– The disciplinary delegation considers that Mäntykivi has recklessly endangered the safety of the opponent with his actions, and taking into account the circumstances of the act, it is appropriate to impose a suspension for the act, the decision said.
No penalty was awarded for the situation in the match itself.
Mäntykivi, 24, has played 38 matches this season with an output of 11+20=31.
