Hertha BSC was already two goals ahead against Darmstadt. But then the game tipped over. Düsseldorf landed a liberating blow.

Hertha BSC also failed to win the third game of the year in the 2nd Bundesliga. The Berliners squandered a two-goal lead in front of their home crowd on Sunday afternoon. The game ended 2:2 (2:1).

After the early goals from Fabian Reese and Julian Eitschberger (3rd and 15th minutes), the guests equalized with a brace from Fraser Hornby (39th/foul penalty, 62nd). In addition, Hertha striker Dawid Kownacki was sent off with a red card (70th).

Due to the draw, Darmstadt missed out on making it to the top of the table – just like SC Paderborn. The East Westphalia lost their away game at Fortuna Düsseldorf 1:2 (1:0). With the victory, Markus beginning’s team gained breathing room in the relegation battle. In the third game of the day, Dynamo Dresden and Arminia Bielefeld drew 1-1 (1-0).
