Valentijn Driessen would be a good candidate to try out as Jack van Gelder’s successor, says TV critic Victor Vlam. “It also depends on the chemistry he has with Hélène.”
Hélène Hendriks’ Oranje talk show has a problem, because the presenter has removed Jack van Gelder in a questionable manner and that is why the show is now without a seasoning. She gave many excuses about it, but in the end it turned out that she wanted to cut back considerably on Jack, but he did not want to replace Rutger Castricum.
Seniority
Victor Vlam, regular guest at Hélène, is remarkably mild about Jack’s exit and now suggests trying out Valentijn Driessen. “They could also see whether Valentijn Driessen is not a suitable successor for Jack. He has been a guest at De Oranjewinter once and in the past he has also sat at the table at De Oranjezomer.”
He continues in the podcast Victor Indicates TV: “Not very, very often, but as a sidekick he does have a few things that make him very suitable for that. He is a bit older. I think that is an advantage, because you are a bit further along in your career and you have less to lose. You can just say what you really think and you also have a certain seniority.”
Grumpy
Does Valentine’s Day suit the light-hearted Hélène? “It’s a bit of a grump, but I think that actually fits that program, especially because there are a lot of people who are very likeable, so you also need someone who is different in that way.”
The TV critic concludes: “He is also quite right-wing and I think that is also something that fits the signature of the program. I think it is worth a try. It also depends on the chemistry he has with Hélène, but that could be something they could try out.”
