Rob Jetten, Henri Bontenbal and Dilan Yesilgöz have chosen the heavily criticized RTL Tonight for the TV presentation of their coalition agreement. Has Today Inside also tried to snare them?
The viewer has been severely punished: the choice of Rob Jetten, Henri Bontenbal and Dilan Yesilgöz to present their coalition agreement to the completely uncritical duo Beau van Erven Dorens and Leonie ter Braak in RTL Tonight. According to Tina Nijkamp, very few people watched it, namely 586 thousand.
Low ratings
Disappointingly, Tina points out analysis channel. “The interview in De Zwaluuwenberg with the three politicians by Beau and Leonie on RTL 4 unfortunately had very disappointing viewing figures for RTL and Beau and Leonie: 586 thousand viewers. That in itself is not that bad for RTL Tonight, but because it is after The Voice.”
Remarkably, on the previous Fridays, RTL Tonight recorded significantly higher viewing figures. “Last week 677 thousand, the week before 702 thousand. And then 586 thousand for the first interview of the three is quite low.”
Why RTL?
Why did the trio choose RTL? “According to new rumors, the location was an idea of RTL. The NPO did not want to pay for the location and wanted a studio. The politicians preferred a location.”
“Possibly other reasons for choosing RTL instead of the NPO: fewer critical questions, higher viewing figures and a kind of ‘thank you’ from Jetten for allowing him to participate in the first RTL election debate.”
Not to VI
The most watched talk show on Friday is Today Inside. Why was SBS 6 passed? “I think it would be logical for SBS to be allowed to provide such a program in the future,” says TV critic Victor Vlam in his podcast Victor Indicates TV.
“That would fit less into the format of VI, but a special program at half past eight presented by Wilfred Genee could well be an option. Just like Het Debat van Nederland was also held on that channel. We hope that Wilfred will of course keep his bucket of water at home, but that is another story.”
Asked?
Wilfred Genee is bothered by it. “So it’s either RTL or the NPO. SBS will become normal again…”, he grumbles in Today Inside.
Thomas van Groningen: “Did we invite them? Did we try to bring them here?”
Wilfred: “No, but they still know… They normally always call themselves to say they want to come here.”
Tina Nijkamp: “It would also have to do with the fact that Rob Jetten was allowed to sit in the RTL debate instead of Wilders.”
Change
Wilfred would find that striking. “Oh, change again, you think?”
Tina: “Those rumors are going around. I don’t want to say it’s the truth, but…”
Johan Derksen: “That’s why he became Prime Minister.”
Wilfred: “Yes, and because you were sucking him off here so much that you loved him so much. That also played a role.”
Johan concludes: “Yes, but he has done very well for his party, that boy. The fact that it is not my party is something else.”
