In several respects, the Correia team did not resemble the Telstar we are used to this season: playing with a lot of commitment and effective in dead moments. In Zwolle, the opponent was trumped on those aspects of the game. “PEC was very dominant in dueling in midfield and winning the second balls,” said Correia.
Three of the four Zwolle goals came from a corner kick or throw-in. “We are normally very strong in that. We rarely get a dead set piece against us.” Reason for Correia to show his team the goals conceded afterwards. “We have already looked back at the dead moments. I immediately told the group: this is what it looked like and we have to get on with it.”
Rightly lost
Telstar captain Danny Bakker joined his trainer. “It’s poor that you give away the goals like that. We lost quite rightly. I haven’t said that often this season, but I did today.”
