Last year it was still a tricky point within the municipality of Midden-Drenthe: the renovation of the town hall in Beilen. But the first preliminary design for a renovated town hall is now on the table. The proposed cost: 15.2 million euros excluding VAT.
The council has sent this first draft to the council, which can ask questions about it next week.
The design has paid a lot of attention to new workplaces for civil servants, where they can work in different ways and in many different places. In addition to municipal tasks, the renovated town hall also has room for the Huus van de Taol, the library and welfare work.
Last May, the municipal council of Midden-Drenthe already agreed to a renovation of the town hall. According to the municipality, renovation is necessary because the current accommodation has outdated installations and ICT systems, and the building no longer meets the legal requirements.
The decision about the renovation took a lot of time and turned out to be a major point of discussion within the municipal council. Last year this even led to a coalition breakdown. Councilor Rico Schans then resigned from his position after his party Municipal Interests BBBondgenoot said he no longer had confidence in further cooperation in the coalition.
On February 3, there will be an information meeting for council members about the first renovation plan for the town hall.
