And it is precisely the very young people who are relaunching the shots and videos of the five winners of the competition on Instagram, Tik Tok and Youtube, immediately after the jury’s announcement. Best in Class in their spectacular parade on the surface of the frozen lake St Moritzersee. Elegance, style and passion for the automobile overcome every generational barrier and the Engadine winter with The ICE offers those emotions and involvement to which this magical landscape was accustomed with the Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz. The models exhibited in park stopped on the track they put the jury chaired by Marco Makaus (co-founder of The ICE together with Ronnie Kessel) to the test and made up of the world’s leading classic car experts and great designers, including Norman Foster, internationally renowned British architect and designer, Pixar creative director Jay Ward, Fabrizio Giugiaro, Mathias Doutreleau, Philip Rathgen, and Augustin Sabatié-Garat, head of RM Sotheby’s for the EMEA markets.

BEST SOUND

Starting this year, a new award has been awarded with the collaboration of Bang & Olufsen to the engine with the best “sound”. And after an exciting start-up of the engines the prize went to the roar of the 400 HP V8 of the extravagant Pontiac Vivant 77 from 1965, a concept inspired by the Alfa Romeo Bat, designed and built by Pontiac engineer Herb Adams, and already appreciated at the Pebble Beach and Audrain Concours d’elegance for its wonderful restoration. Adams, a brilliant engineer and racing enthusiast, had assembled the chassis inside his garage using pieces recovered from demolitions, while the aluminum bodywork was made by a small body shop in Michigan specializing in dragsters. After being presented at the 1966 Detroit Autorama, the Vivant was used until the end of the Seventies and then disappeared into thin air for 35 years. Found almost intact in 2009 and restored, it is now part of the vast collection of the Californian Phillip Sarofim.
