Eintracht Frankfurt has signed Spaniard Albert Riera as the successor to sacked head coach Dino Toppmöller. The club announced this on Friday.
The 43-year-old comes from Slovenian Conference League participant NK Celje, and he has a contract in the Main metropolis until 2028.
“With Albert Riera, we consciously chose a coach who stands for modern, intensive and offensive football,” sports director Markus Krösche is quoted in the statement: “He has international experience, a clear game idea and an equally clear approach in the daily work with the team.”
Next Sunday, at his own request, Riera will be on the sidelines for the last time as head coach of NK Celje. The Spaniard is expected in Frankfurt at the beginning of the week, so he will make his debut in the Frankfurt coaching bench next Friday in the Bundesliga away game against Union Berlin (8.30 p.m., DAZN).
