With a few easy tips, the body stays warm.
The frosts have arrived. Jenni Gästgivar
It’s freezing cold, but the training program doesn’t show mercy: today, too, you should drag yourself outside for an hour to exercise. So what’s your advice?
We asked Finland’s top skiers about it. They are not only experts in training but also in dressing.
It quickly became clear that the cold is no obstacle to movement. With a few practical tricks, going out is easy and even pleasant.
Emil Liekari gives instructions that should be followed both on the jogging path and on business trips. Many people put on the thickest possible coat when they leave the house, but completely neglect other parts of the body.
– Fingers and toes must not freeze. If they freeze, then the whole body starts to feel cold, Liekari says.
The sprinter also advises to reserve a change of clothes for outdoor training.
– When you leave the run, you must remember to immediately put on dry clothes.

So how do fingers and toes stay warm?
Eetu Isometsä highlights the size of the gloves. That matters too.
– In cold weather, they can be loose. Today I skied a little bigger myself, so my fingers don’t freeze so easily.
For the feet, Isometsä recommends battery-operated thermal socks.
– They are pro-level moods, he praises.
Oona Kettunen also swears by battery socks.
– Considering how high-quality and good they are, such an investment is definitely worth making. They serve for many years, Kettunen recommends.
If you are going skiing, you can also pull over the overalls for extra warmth.
– Some people get frostbitten toes more easily than others. I put on the protection myself if it’s 20 degrees below zero, Miro Karpanen says.
