Cereulide is a toxin that, according to the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, can be produced by the bacterium Bacillus cereus. It can cause nausea and vomiting and, in rare cases, serious life-threatening poisoning.
At the beginning of the month, the food company Nestlé recalled baby food products because of the same toxin. Various powders and liquids in cans, boxes and bottles of the “Beba” and “Alfamino” brands were affected.
