Boxer Gervonta Davis31, was arrested, the entertainment site reported, among other things TMZ. The American boxer was wanted more than two weeks ago, but he was caught on Wednesday.
Davis is suspected of assault, deprivation of liberty and attempted kidnapping. According to the Miami Gardens Police Department, it all has to do with an incident with a woman at a local club.
According to the woman, she was in an intimate relationship with Davis for five months. The woman claimed the boxer approached her while she was working at the club in October. The woman said Davis grabbed her by the back of the head, pulled her by the hair with one hand and grabbed her by the throat with the other.
The woman told police that Davis forced her down the stairs into the club’s parking garage while holding her by the back of the head. In the parking garage, the boxer freed the woman, who fled the scene.
The woman filed a criminal complaint about the incident two days later. The police have video footage that supports the woman’s story.
Davis was arrested Wednesday. According to TMZ, the boxer’s guarantee amount is 16,000 dollars, or about 13,300 euros.
Davis was scheduled to enter the ring in November Jake Paul against. The match was canceled when the abuse allegations became public.
