Tom Morello is hosting a solidarity concert in Minneapolis against the immigration authorities ICE with Rise Against. The proceeds go to families of murdered victims.
Today, Friday, January 30, 2026, former Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello teamed up with Rise Against to host a concert directed against the U.S. immigration agency ICE and “dedicated to the families of those murdered by ICE.” The “DefendMinnesota!” event took place in the city of Minneapolis. The city has been a focal point for escalations between citizens and the ICE for weeks.
“Concert of Solidarity and Resistance”
Tom Morello called it a “concert of solidarity and resistance” amid ongoing protests against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), particularly the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
The event took place at 10:30 a.m. at a live music club and tickets cost $25. The activist headlined following performances from Rise Against, American guitarist Al Di Meola and American singer-songwriter Ike Reilly.
In a social media post, the guitarist wrote: “If it looks like fascism, sounds like fascism, acts like fascism, dresses like fascism, talks like fascism, kills like fascism and lies like fascism, then it’s fucking fascism. It’s there, it’s now, it’s in my city, it’s in your city, and it must be fought, denounced, defended, confronted, to be exposed, repressed, overthrown and driven away by you and by me.”
The musician continued: “We come to Minneapolis, where people have stood up heroically against ICE, against Trump, against this terrible, rising wave of state terror. Where people have stood up for their neighbors and themselves, for democracy and justice. No one but ourselves will save us, and it’s now or never.”
Finally, he wrote, “100% of the proceeds will go to the families of those murdered by ICE in Minneapolis: Renee Good and Alex Pretti.”
ICE agents suspended
The ICE agent who shot Good has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation, as have the two agents involved in the fatal shooting of Pretti. This was reported by the BBC.
