Brian May rules out Queen concerts in the US for security reasons. The guitarist calls the country “dangerous” and refers to current events.

The rock band Queen is still omnipresent these days, and fans worldwide continue to wait for new music or tour announcements. Queen became particularly big in the USA; at its peak in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the band played masses of concerts there. Now there is sad news for all fans in the USA.

Brian May speaks plainly about concerts in the USA

The guitarist now gave an update about whether concerts are planned in the USA soon. He found clear words and completely ruled out touring in the United States. The rocker justified this by saying that he doesn’t feel comfortable traveling to the country at the moment. In an interview with the Daily Mail, he said: “America is a dangerous place right now.” He therefore made a clear assessment of the current situation on site and fears for his own safety in the event of a trip to the US.

But this is clearly difficult for the 78-year-old, as he emphasized how much the country is close to his heart: “It’s sad because Queen grew up there. We love this country, but it’s no longer what it once was.” He also emphasized that many artists from the music industry are currently thinking twice about performing in the USA.

The guitarist is probably alluding to the situation surrounding the ICE immigration authority. This takes radical and violent action against demonstrators and migrants. The city of Minneapolis in particular has been in the spotlight recently. Here there were three deaths in clashes between ICE and demonstrators, in which citizens were shot by officers.

What are the current band activities like?

Brian May also commented on this. Although Queen has been touring successfully with Adam Lambert for a long time, it remains unclear when there will be performances again. This is his update: “We’re taking it day by day.” As for whether there will be new music coming soon, he hinted that there are “a few things you haven’t heard yet.”

How is Brian May’s health?

Cutting back on touring is also linked to the health of the rock musician. In the fall of 2024 he suffered a minor stroke. He described the moment as frightening on Instagram. Since then, he has been keeping fit by swimming and cycling and is motivated to take better care of himself. In November 2025, he also described the moment as a wake-up call to ITV presenter Alan Titchmarsh. However, according to his doctors, he is on the right track and is currently doing well.
