BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – Because of a campaign by the Campact association, dairy entrepreneur Theo Müller is taking action against the representation that he supports the AfD. Campact is currently demonstrating nationwide with posters and large projections on buildings against Müller’s closeness to AfD leader Alice Weidel.

In Berlin, for example, a corresponding projection could be seen near Alexanderplatz. The motifs, for example, are based on a well-known Müller advertising slogan: “Alles AfD oder was?”. Underneath it says: “Group founder Theo Müller supports the right-wing extremist AfD.” Because of this sentence, the Berlin lawyer Christian Schertz is now demanding a cease and desist declaration from Campact on behalf of Müller. The “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” first reported on it.

Lawyer: Theo Müller is not an AfD supporter

“Our client never supported the AfD,” explained Schertz. He refers to a two-year-old interview with Müller in the “Neue Zürcher Zeitung”. At that time, the dairy entrepreneur said: “I’m not an AfD member and I don’t want to be one.” He further said that he had not donated any money to the party either. When asked whether he was an interested observer or a sympathizer, Müller said: “Something in between.”

Campact explained that they were sticking to the poster campaign. The association does not shy away from legal proceedings. “As long as Theo Müller does not clearly distance himself from the AfD and its positions, we will continue to explain that he supports the right-wing extremist party. There is enough evidence of this,” said campaign manager Luise Neumann-Cosel. The association sees itself as a campaign organization for the defense of democracy.

The background to the Campact campaign is that the 86-year-old Müller has admitted to regular contact with AfD leader Weidel. In the interview he also referred to her as a friend. Weidel, for her part, said in an RTL program that she could imagine an entrepreneur like Müller in the government./uvo/DP/men
