The province of North Holland sent Bloemendaal a letter last week with the order to take ‘enforcement’ action at the former family campsite. According to the provincial government, the construction plans of owner MarinaParken do not fit in with the environmental plan for the area.

MarinaParken wants to build 350 luxury holiday homes. This plan leads to unrest among the permanent campers and in the vicinity of the campsite. The province’s biggest objection is the building area for ‘site-specific camping equipment’. These are, for example, mobile homes or chalets.

This should not be larger than 1,600 square meters, including facilities such as catering and sanitary facilities. These facilities may occupy a maximum of 925 square meters, the province says.

‘Where do people get this from?’

The planned 350 chalets of 60 square meters would cover an area of 21,000 square meters. Co-owner Jos Angelier of MarinaParken completely disagrees with the province.

“The enforcement request concerns the interpretation of the rules of the zoning plan. The province apparently is of the opinion that the maximum of 1,600 square meters for supporting buildings, which has been in effect for more than 50 years, also applies to site-specific camping equipment. In fact, the province now apparently suddenly believes that only 925 square meters of supporting buildings would be permitted. Where do they get this from? I find this really incomprehensible.”
