Postcards reveal the film Beatles: Paul Mescal as McCartney causes a stir. Sam Mendes is planning four films – each from a different perspective.
One of the next big film biographies about four legends of music history is currently in the works: Director Sam Mendes is working on a series of four films about The Beatles. Fans will be eagerly awaiting the film adaptations – now they’re getting a first look at the project. However, not as a trailer, but in an unusual way.
Who are the film Beatles?
Who portrays the four British musicians? In the film, Paul Mescal will take on the role of Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon, Joseph Quinn will take on George Harrison and Barry Keoghan will play Ringo Starr. The biography is planned as a four-part film, with each of the four films telling the events from the perspective of a band member.
Star director Sam Mendes, who recently attracted attention with “1917”, is taking over the creative direction. Fans won’t expect the final version of the project until 2028. Lead actor Paul Mescal recently told Variety that production is still ongoing: “It will take a while to finish. That’s my job for the entire year 2026.”
First look at the movie Beatles revealed
Fans have now discovered official postcards featuring the actors in their respective roles at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), which was co-founded by McCartney in 1996.
“We received exclusive postcards to promote the new Beatles films!” LIPA wrote in a post featuring a photo of Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney. The institute further wrote: “We have hidden them in LIPA and hope that students find them. If you spot one, tag @lipaliverpool and @sonypicturesuk.”
The first postcard reads: “Paul Mescal is Paul McCartney.” Photos of the three remaining promotional cards also later appeared on Instagram. However, these have not yet been shared via the official LIPA account.
“I think this project is absolutely unique”
David Morrissey, Leanne Best, Bobby Schofield and James Norton joined the cast in late 2025. Other cast members include Saoirse Ronan, Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood and Mia McKenna-Bruce, who portray Linda McCartney, Yoko Ono, Pattie Boyd and Maureen Starkey, respectively.
Earlier this month, Paul Mescal explained that it would be beneficial for fans to know as little as possible about them before watching the biopics. The actor said he and his colleagues couldn’t believe they were taking part in the films.
“I think this project is absolutely unique,” the actor added. “Personally, I’m really excited to be working on a project of this magnitude, which is also based so heavily on acting and features Sam and great screenwriters.”
The makers of the film series definitely leave fans wanting more. However, we still have to wait until the genesis of songs like “Let It Be” can be seen on the big screen.
