Aleksandr Bolshunov’s appeal was not even considered due to a fundamental error.

Aleksandr Bolšunov has no business in this year’s Olympics. PASI LEISMA

The Russian cross-country star, three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov the last straw to get to the Milan–Cortina Games did not yield results.

The International Court of Appeal for Sports, Cas, made a decision according to which it has jurisdiction to hear Bolšunov’s appeal.

Bolšunov’s appeal concerned the decision of the International Skiing Federation Fisi not to grant Bolšunov the status of a neutral athlete, which is required to enter the Olympics.

The status of a neutral athlete means that the athlete has not been allowed to support Russia’s brutal war of aggression in Ukraine, and must not have any connection with the Russian army.

Four years ago, after the Beijing Olympics, the Russian president Vladimir Putin promoted Bolshunov to captain of the Russian National Guard.

However, Cas did not have to weigh these issues, because according to it, there was a fundamental error in Bolšunov’s complaint.

Reuters According to Bolšunov, he submitted his complaint to Cas’s ad hoc division, which has been established to resolve disputes that arose during the Olympics and just before the Games.

According to Cas, the dispute should have started on or after January 27 in order for the ad hoc division to hear it.

Head coach of the Russian cross-country national team Yuri Borodavko accusing Cas of bias.

– Above all, this shows their desire to keep Bolshunov out and their biased attitude towards Russian sports in general, Borodavko said, according to the Russian website Championat.
