Traffic jams occurred on the A28 this afternoon and evening due to concrete damage to a viaduct at the Lankhorst junction. One lane in the direction from Zwolle to Meppel is closed. The connecting road of the A32 towards Hoogeveen is also temporarily closed due to the damage.
According to Rijkswaterstaat, it was discovered this afternoon that pieces of concrete were falling from the viaduct. For safety reasons, parts of the road are therefore closed.
“At this time we cannot say how the damage occurred, that is being investigated,” a spokesperson for Rijkswaterstaat said. The repair work will certainly last until after the morning rush hour.
Travelers on the A28 must take delays into account and traffic that wants to use the connecting road from the A32 to the A28 will be temporarily diverted.
