It was a match to win at any cost, and Milan did not disappoint. Olimpia restarts after three defeats in the Euroleague, and in the 25th round of the regular season beats Partizan 85-79 at the Allianz Cloud. The Serbs, despite the absences in the guard department and a difficult season, came from two successes in a row, but surrendered under the blows of LeDay and Nebo, with the former dictating the pace at the beginning and closing the score at the end. Ellis, author of heavy triples, also did very well, but Poeta’s attack continued to come on intermittently, with several moments of blackout over the course of the 40 minutes. With this success, the 12th of the season, Milan momentarily moves to eleventh place, two victories away from the play-in zone.

For large stretches of the first half, balance was the underlying theme of the match. They attack the defense deployed on both sides a lot, with few transitions: much of Milan’s offensive turnover initially passes through the hands of LeDay and Nebo, but Olimpia accumulates an important advantage. They try at the beginning of the second quarter, raising the defense and relying on Brooks and Bolmaro (33-25 at 12′), but Partizan responds: they attack with patience, build good 3-pointers (5/8 at halftime), and stay afloat with Brown and Payne. The last blaze of the first half, however, came from EA7, who in the last 3′ of the game took advantage of good pressure under the basket, several trips to the line and a triple from Ellis to return to the locker room at 52-43.

Upon returning to the field, Milan seems to fall into the mistakes that have recently cost them dearly: the attack stops, it doesn’t produce superiority, the ball doesn’t turn. After the misery of 5 points in 7′, Bolmaro’s exit due to injury and Partizan returning to -3 (57-54), Olimpia begins to draw wildcards: four consecutive triples arrive with Ellis, Guduric and Ricci, a couple of which are difficult and at the end of the 24”, to enter the last 10′ at 69-57.
