Long leap for Roma, who thanks to Ziolkowski’s goal overtakes Bologna and finishes in eighth place, which is worth direct qualification to the round of 16. Vincenzo Italiano’s team, however, finishes the group in tenth place and will have to make it to the playoffs. The other clubs that land in the top sixteen by right are in order: Lyon, Aston Villa, Midtjylland, Real Betis, Porto, Braga and Freiburg.

The pairings for the playoffs will be established on Friday. The rule provides for a block distribution of two teams: the 9th and 10th will respectively challenge one of the 23rd and 24th and so on. In the same way we will proceed to the round of 16, always in pairs. So one between Genk and Bologna will face one between Dinamo Zagreb and Brann (Roma or Freiburg in the round of 16). Stuttgart and Ferencvaros will challenge Celtic or Ludogorets, with one of Braga and Porto waiting for the winners in the next round. Nottingham Forest and Viktoria Plzen will have to deal with Panathinaikos or Fenerbahce (Midtjylland or Real Betis later), while Red Star and Celta Vigo will be drawn with one of Paok and Lille, with Lyon or Aston Villa in the round of 16 for the two that will pass the playoffs.
