Lego pays tribute to Michael Schumacher

Lego always delights fans with special collectibles. A new model is dedicated to the career of Michael Schumacher.
Lego has long been more than just toys for children. The Danish company, which specializes in small plastic building blocks, has been appealing to older target groups for years with various collaborations: the Death Star from “Star Wars”, a pirate ship from the film series “Pirates of the Caribbean” or huge Pokémon figures are all intended for adults. Lego is now targeting this same group with a new product from the Formula 1 series.
From March 1st, the company will not only sell the current cars, but also the Ferrari F2004 from that season. The highlight for many fans is probably a detail: a small figure that is supposed to represent Michael Schumacher is also part of the product scope. The record world champion carries the trophy and helmet in his hands and stands on a podium. On this you can read a picture and a quote from Schumacher.
The new product is “a building set that lets adults and collecting enthusiasts celebrate a legend of the racetrack,” writes the manufacturer. The car even has “functioning steering, racing tires with tread and a detailed V10 engine.”
However, the 735-piece set also costs accordingly: Lego charges 89.99 euros for the model, which can currently be pre-ordered. For comparison: Lego sold the Formula 1 cars from last season for 26.99 euros.
The 2004 season was a memorable one. Schumacher dominated Formula 1 to a rarely seen extent, winning 13 of 18 races and securing his fifth consecutive world title. Overall, it was his seventh and last major triumph in the premier class of motorsport.
