The police have arrested a person for his involvement in a ‘major assault’ in Coevorden at the end of last year. The victim suffered ‘serious injuries’ months later, the police said.
An underage boy was severely beaten on the basketball court on Poppenharelaan in October. Officers have spoken to witnesses and viewed camera images several times recently.
A first suspect has now emerged. The police do not yet want to say what exactly his role was in the assault. “We are now investigating this, and more people may be involved,” said a police spokesperson.
The suspect has so far only been arrested, but is not in custody.
