The reigning champion of the Veikkausliiga, KuPS, received unpleasant news in the middle of winter.

KuPS reported on Wednesday that midfielder Jerry Voutilainen was injured during the team’s training.
– The injury requires surgery and will keep Jerry away from the playing fields for the rest of the season, KuPS announced.

Voutilainen, 30, returned to Kuopio in the winter of 2024. Voutilainen played 22 Veikkausliiga matches for KuPS last season. In these, he gave four assists that led to a goal.
Voutilainen was also given responsibility on the Conference League side, when KuPS reached the playoff stage nicely.
KuPS will meet the Polish club KKS Lech Poznań in the first round.
The Kuopio club also announced that Samuel Pasanen, who was injured in the final match of the Veikkausliiga season, will be sidelined for a long time.
