Madness in the last second: goalkeeper scores the decisive goal

Benfica led against Real Madrid, but needed another goal to advance to the second round. Then the last minute of added time began.
Madness in the Champions League: In the game Benfica against Real Madrid, the hosts from Lisbon were leading 3-2 in stoppage time, but would have been eliminated in 25th place in the table. Because: Benfica was level on points with Marseille, and the goal difference was also identical. But Marseille had one more goal, which tipped the balance in favor of the French.
That’s why in the eighth minute of stoppage time, Benfica, with a double majority, Real’s Raúl Asencio and Rodrygo had just been sent off with yellow-red, threw everything forward again. With a free kick from midfielder Fredrik Aursnes, goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin was even allowed to move forward. And Aursnes’ ball actually landed on the head of the Ukrainian goalkeeper, who headed it into the goal.
The Estádio da Luz in Lisbon was upside down. The 4-2 win took Benfica to 24th place in the Champions League – and at the same time marked the end of the game.
The Portuguese managed the feat of reaching the intermediate round of the Champions League after four defeats at the start. Star coach José Mourinho’s team won three of the last four games. They won 2-0 against Ajax in Amsterdam on matchday five, then beat Naples at home and now Real Madrid. The 0-2 defeat in Turin on the penultimate matchday was forgotten.
Particularly strange: In the next round, Benfica will face either Inter Milan or Real Madrid. Because Real (ninth place) and Inter (tenth place) are the two possible opponents for the Portuguese according to the seeding list. So there could be a reunion.
