Annechien Steenhuizen does not want Evert Santegoeds to comment on the reason for her absence from the Achuurjournaal, and there is a lot of understanding for that. “It must be horrible.”
It is a mystery to the general public why Annechien Steenhuizen has been absent as presenter of the Achuurjournaal for almost a year and a half. Her employer NOS assumes that she will return at some point, but until then it is a guess what exactly she is going through. Evert Santegoeds does know.
Evert knows
Evert revealed in his podcast this week that he finally knows the reason for Annechien’s absence. “It is difficult to say anything about that, because she has asked me to respect that she does not talk about that.”
“We know what is going on, but that is such a strictly private situation that I am not going to burn my fingers on it. I can only wish her a lot of strength.”
Horrible
Does Telegraaf columnist Mark Koster think this is lame of Evert? “So it is known in this building, where a certain Evert Santegoeds also wanders around, because he seems to know it, but doesn’t want to say anything about it. I appreciate that,” he says in the podcast The Media Week.
“Then you also get people saying: ‘Then Evert shouldn’t say he knows.’ Well, I like that Evert does say that he knows, because then he also indicates that he is a good journalist. You know, Tina? I don’t need to know. It must be horrible.”
‘That’s fine’
TV authority Tina Nijkamp thinks so too. “Of course it is horrible. It cannot be otherwise, I think so too. I don’t want to talk about that at all. That is up to her. Family circumstances are family circumstances and that is what we know. That is fine indeed. We don’t need to know more about it.”
She continues: “I want to say something else about it and that is that I really miss Annechien as a host at the Journaal and have been for a long time. I think… Those replacements Winfried Baijens and Simone Weimans are doing fine, but I miss Annechien. I really think she is an anchor and a personality. I just wanted to say that.”
No column
Tina actually wanted to write that in her Telegraaf column. “Yes, I hesitated to devote a column to it, but I don’t know if she wants that. Leave her private.”
“I don’t think she is looking forward to all that media attention at all, but I just wanted to say: I miss Annechien, because I think she is a really good presenter. She also has a really beautiful voice.”
