• NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has been at the top of the company for more than three decades
• There are no official plans for a potential successor to Huang
• NVIDIA introduces six new superchips and advances autonomous driving with Mercedes-Benz
The long-time CEO of the technology giant NVIDIA turns 63 this year. The company has not yet announced any plans for a possible successor.
Huang and the future of NVIDIA
Jensen Huang has headed the US technology company NVIDIA since 1993. Under his leadership, the US company has developed from a small startup into the market leader for GPUs and AI technologies. With a market capitalization of $4.56 trillion (as of January 26, 2026), NVIDIA is now one of the most valuable companies in the world.
At the world’s largest consumer electronics and consumer technology trade fair, CES, in Las Vegas in early January, Huang spoke to reporters at a Q&A event about his future plans at the company: As Quartz reports, Huang has no ambitions to leave the company or his position as CEO in the foreseeable future. Huang also emphasized the responsibility that comes with his position, explaining that NVIDIA has influence on the entire market and that numerous partners depend on the company.
NVIDIA is entering the next era of AI
NVIDIA is planning big steps in the coming years: At the CES in Las Vegas, the tech company also presented the Rubin platform, which is intended to represent the next generation of AI. The platform with six new chips is intended to produce a particularly powerful AI supercomputer and make the use of large AI systems more efficient and cost-effective – a step that could further accelerate the spread of AI.
NVIDIA advances autonomous driving – partnership with Mercedes-Benz
At the same time, NVIDIA is advancing its developments in the area of autonomous driving in conjunction with AI: Huang announced at CES in Las Vegas that the first series vehicle with Alpamayo based on the full-stack NVIDIA DRIVE platform for autonomous driving will soon be available. The technology will celebrate its premiere in the new Mercedes-Benz CLA. AI-defined driving is expected to be offered on the US market this year.
While a successor is not in sight, Jensen Huang continues to drive technological change at NVIDIA – with ambitious plans for AI and autonomous driving.
