Keely Cashman has to edge hard in the upper part and is unable to set the ski softly. The American performs the middle part well and creates a sensation. At the finish line it was fifth place for Cashman, who celebrated her best result of the season.

Mirjam Puchner (AUT)
Mirjam Puchner should be particularly good at the middle section. The 33-year-old can’t cope at all in the Super G this season and loses a lot of time in the upper corners. She then achieved an interim best time in the sliding section, but in the lower technical area she added a few tenths of a second.

Roberta Melesi (ITA)
The group of top riders is through and Emma Aicher is still in the lead ahead of Lindsey Vonn. After a short preparation break, it’s Roberta Melesi’s turn next. The Italian shows a courageous ride and doesn’t lose much time until the flat section. Below, Aicher was in a league of his own and Melesi falls just behind Weidle-Winkelmann.

Ester Ledecka (CZE)
The goal flags are set again and after a short break we continue with Ester Ledecka. The Czech concludes the top group and gets through the upper corners well. She has to open up a little in one jump, but Ledecka’s speed is high and she doesn’t lose much further down. A good trip for the 2018 Olympic champion, who was rewarded with third place.

Alice Robinson (NZL)
Alice Robinson was the best athlete in the first two Super G’s. The giant slalom expert finds a good position in the corners and drives well on the train. Nevertheless, her pace is not right and the New Zealander cannot threaten Aicher at the front. And then there is a brief moment of shock: Robinson doesn’t hit the right direction at the target jump and tries to stay on course. She flies into the final gate and falls on her back. Luckily, Robinson is able to get up on his own and doesn’t appear to have suffered any serious injuries.

Kajsa Vickhoff Lie (NOR)
Kajsa Vickhoff Lie has not yet been able to get used to the Di Prampero piste. But the Norwegian is lightning fast at the top. In the following corners, Aicher and Vonn were in a league of their own and she also lost over a second. Vickhoff Lie fights for the podium, but narrowly misses third place and is initially fifth.

Elena Curtoni (ITA)
There is currently no Italian woman on the podium. Can Elena Curtoni do something about that? Curtoni is eight km/h slower than Aicher in the middle section and as a result she loses a lot of time in the sliding section. She is passed through to ninth place.

Sofia Goggia (ITA)
Watch out for Sofia Goggia, because the Super G should suit the risk-taking Italian. The Italian is a little late on a goal, but is on the move. The Italian only loses two tenths to Aicher, but she doesn’t have her strengths when it comes to gliding and loses a few tenths of a second there. Goggia is currently only fourth.

Romane Miradoli (FRA)
Romane Miradoli is having a strong season in the Super G and was already second in St. Moritz. She also loses in the twisty first section, but not as much as the others before. The Frenchwoman then has to make a slight correction, but is still fighting for the podium. Miradoli keeps the gap at one second and pushes Weidle-Winkelmann off the podium.

The best Swiss woman is at the start: Can Corinne Suter get back into the spotlight in time for the Olympics? Suter has no problems in the upper part, but is not on the tightest line. The Swiss is not getting any closer to the competition today and is at the end of the field.

Ariane Raedler (AUT)
The second Austrian is at the start. Ariane Rädler also cannot keep up with Aicher’s top speed and has significantly less speed. She doesn’t hit the corners as cleanly as the German and falls far behind.

Lindsey Vonn (USA)
Now it becomes clear what Emma Aicher’s trip was worth, because the top favorite is at the start. Vonn is faster at the top than Aicher and drives on the tightest line into the technical curve. The American’s speed is slower than the German’s and she is almost on a par with Aicher. Vonn has to edge hard before the finish and that ends up costing him the lead. The 41-year-old is in second place.

Cornelia Hütter (AUT)
Cornelia Hütter opens the top group and has a lot to make up for today after her weak result yesterday. The Austrian’s speed is significantly lower and this is reflected in a huge gap. In addition, Hütter made a mistake in the lower part, which is why she fell back to fourth place by almost 1.5 seconds.

Emma Aicher (GER)
With start number five it is already the second and last German. Can Emma Aicher go one better after her sixth place yesterday? The 22-year-old makes full use of her skiing skills and is significantly faster than Weidle-Winkelmann. In the middle section she makes no mistake on the jump and is over a second ahead of her teammate. That was a real announcement from Aicher and she lets her joy run wild at the finish.

Laura Gauche wants to do much better today than yesterday because she was only 35. The Frenchwoman gets through the upper section well and is only slightly slower than Weidle-Winkelmann. She has to push once on the long move in the middle section and is four tenths slower than the German at the finish.

Kira Weidle-Winkelmann (GER)
Can Kira Weidle-Winkelmann now build on yesterday’s podium finish? The German carves delicately through the corners at the top and this pays off at high speed. But the 29-year-old made a mistake in the same place as Stuhec and had to take direction. Not an optimal drive from Weidle-Winkelmann, but she still remains four hundredths ahead of Pirovano.

Ilka Stuhec (SLO)
Ilka Stuhec also did well yesterday and is now checking Pirovano’s time. the Slovenian has to push straight away at the top. And then it’s over: the experienced athlete completely botches a jump and drives past the next gate.

Laura Pirovano (ITA)
Laura Pirovano has to be the first on the Di Prampero slope. The Italian was sixth yesterday and she fought her way through the thick fog in the first few gates. After that, the visibility improves and Pirovano remains crouched almost the entire time. She has to slide a bit at the bottom, but otherwise she reaches the finish without any problems. The first benchmark time for the competition is 1:15.30.

Is the crisis getting worse for the Swiss?
Three weeks before the Olympic speed races, there is currently no reason to have medal hopes in the speed area. Corinne Suter (start number 9) is not yet back in top form after an injury and needs more racing kilometers. Nevertheless, the 31-year-old was the best Swiss woman in the downhill, finishing 15th. The young Malorie Blanc (19) achieved a good sixth place in St. Moritz. The experienced Joana Hählen (21), Jasmine Flury (22) and Jasmina Suter (28) are currently following behind. Stefanie Grob (31), Janine Schmitt (34), Delia Durrer (42), Sina Fausch (55) and Priska Ming-Nufer (56) also need good results to be recommended for the Olympics.

What’s going on for the ten ÖSV drivers?
Except for Nina Ortlieb (start number 23), who came in a strong fourth place yesterday, none of the Austrians got along with the route really well. Mirjam Puchner (17) did well yesterday in eleventh place, but is clearly weaker in the Super G. Austria’s top rider Cornelia Hütter (6) had a bad day yesterday and will attack again today. The same applies to Ariane Rädler (8). For Christina Ager (24), Ricarda Haaser (25), Nadine Fest (27), Emily Schöpf (36), Lena Wechner (38) and Stephanie Brunner (43) it’s about scoring points and working your way further up the starting list.

Is the German duo now also breaking the knot in the Super G?
In the downhill, Kira Weidle-Winkelmann and Emma Aicher (start number 5) have already been on the podium three times this winter. In the second speed discipline, we have so far achieved eleventh place. Today we’re also aiming for a top placement in the Super G and Weidle-Winkelmann showed yesterday how well the slopes in Tarvisio suit her.

The favorites
Italian Nicol Delago was the best at skiing cleanly yesterday. The 30-year-old celebrated her first World Cup victory, but has to start the race today with the high start number 45 because she has not yet been in the points in the Super G this winter. Kira Weidle-Winkelmann (start number 3) came second for the second time this season yesterday. In the Super G, however, the downhill specialist’s best result was only eleventh place. Lindsey Vonn (7) completed the podium yesterday and is therefore automatically the top favorite today, as she is also one of the best drivers in Super G. Alice Robinson (14) is the leader in the discipline World Cup and did not compete in the downhill yesterday. In the last race in Val d’isere she came second behind Sofia Goggia (11), who should also be mentioned.

Supposedly easy slope
Tarvisio is represented in the World Cup for the first time in 15 years as a replacement location for the Olympic routes in Cortina. Yesterday’s descent already showed that the Di Prampero piste does not have any particular technical hurdles, which makes it all the more difficult to stand out from the competition. Every mistake is therefore punished twice and it is therefore important to ski cleanly on the narrowest lines.
