Oliver Glasner will leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season. The former Bundesliga coach in the Premier League may stay.
The Crystal Palace chapter is coming to an end for Oliver Glasner. The coach will turn his back on the Londoners in the summer. He announced this at a press conference.
“I told the club months ago that I was looking for a new challenge,” said the Austrian coach on Friday. His contract with the Premier League club expires at the end of June.
Accordingly, the decision was made during the international break in October. He had a “long-term conversation with CEO Steve Parish. And I told him that I would not sign a new contract,” said Glasner: “We agreed at the time that it was best to keep this to ourselves.”
In recent weeks, the former Bundesliga coach, who won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022, has repeatedly been linked with a move to Manchester United. He himself recently described the rumors as a “waste of time.”
Now they are likely to boil up again. Interim coach Michael Carrick is only scheduled to work for the “Red Devils” until the end of the season. Glasner could inherit him in a few months.
Since taking office in February 2024, the 51-year-old has shaped the most successful period in the club’s 120-year history at Crystal Palace. Last season he won the FA Cup, the club’s first ever major title. In the league, Glasner and his team are currently in 13th place, in the Conference League Crystal Palace will face Zrinjski Mostar in the play-offs.
