The first meeting of the reform table convened by president Gabriele Gravina with representatives of the federal components was held today at the FIGC headquarters in via Allegri. The main focus of the meeting was sustainability and the general economic and financial stability, with the consequent overall development of the system. In addition to Gravina and the general secretary Marco Brunelli, the presidents of the Lega Calcio Serie A, Ezio Simonelli, of the Lega Serie B, Paolo Bedin, of the Lega Pro, Matteo Marani, of the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti, Giancarlo Abete, of the Aic, Umberto Calcagno, and of the Aiac, Renzo Ulivieri, accompanied by some managers of the various components, attended the table.

Gravina opened the meeting by identifying six macro areas of intervention, shared by the Leagues and the technical components, on which the FIGC is already studying and identifying possible solutions also with the help of the components, which have been asked for proposals to bring to the next meetings. These are the topics listed: review of mutuality systems (particularly in cases of relegation), reform of the Technical Sector, of the Youth and School Sector and of Club Italia (the three entities that deal with technical development from the first kicks up to professionalism), interventions to guarantee sustainability in professional football, incentive formulas to facilitate the use of young people selectable for national teams, maintenance and development of women’s football and reform of the refereeing system in order to improve management methods and technical quality.

Meanwhile, at the request of the Serie A Football League, a meeting took place this morning at the FIGC headquarters between Gravina, Simonelli, the Lega’s CEO Luigi De Siervo, the Serie A federal councilors Giorgio Chiellini and Giuseppe Marotta, the head of Can Gianluca Rocchi and the contact person for relations between the National Referees Commission and the Serie A and B clubs Andrea De Marco. During the meeting, only the need for an in-depth analysis of the VAR protocol and uniformity of the decisions of the match directors were discussed. With the aim of strengthening the spirit of collaboration, it was decided to organize a meeting between Can, the coaches and captains of the Serie A clubs as soon as possible.
