It’s the end of a misunderstanding: Werder Bremen and Naby Keita are finally going their separate ways. The former Liverpool star could not live up to expectations.
Werder Bremen has finally ended the collaboration with Naby Keita. The midfielder is permanently joining the Hungarian club Ferencváros Budapest, as the Bundesliga club announced on Wednesday. Both clubs agreed not to disclose the transfer modalities,” it said.
Bremen’s sports director Clemens Fritz said he was satisfied with the result. “After ending the loan, we have now found a solution that everyone involved is happy with.”
Keita moved from top English club Liverpool to Weser in the summer of 2023. The 30-year-old only made five Bundesliga appearances for Werder. In January 2025, Werder loaned Keita to Budapest. The midfielder earned a regular place at the Hungarian capital club.
