Telstar reaches the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup for the first time since 2002 after beating Almere City. The residents of Velsen have to wait and see who will be in the cage on Friday.
There is the goal of honor for Almere City. Byron Burgering can shoot the ball into the goal from the spin. However, Telstar does not have to fear elimination.
AZ hurts Ajax again. Viteszlav Jaros makes another very painful blunder and Peer Koopmeiners shoots the 3-0 against the ropes. The Amsterdam team plays a dramatic first half in Alkmaar. It is also immediately peaceful.
Through Isak Jensen and Weslley Patati, AZ becomes dangerous in quick succession. Both wingers fail to complete. Small piece of luck for Ajax.
Almost out of nowhere, AZ doubles its lead against Ajax. Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro shoots the ball forward and Troy Parrott finishes it. It’s 2-0!
Kasper Dolberg is knocked down by Mateo Chavez and Ajax gets a free kick. Oscar Gloukh then shoots the ball just over the goal. Shame.
What a wealth for Telstar! Guus Offerhaus made it 0-3 with a neat shot after an assist from Patrick Brouwer. The people of Velsen are well on their way to the last eight.
Peer Koopmeiners gives it a try from a distance. His shot swirls and ends up straight at goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros. Yet the Czech has great difficulty with it. What does he have?! Jaros also made a mistake with the opening goal.
Oscar Gloukh breaks free and tries to hurt AZ. Goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro taps the ball just wide of the goal. Ajax shows itself for the first time.
Telstar also starts in the second half. Now it is Patrick Brouwer who scores the goal.
Can Telstar pull off the victory in the second half?
What a start to AZ! The Alkmaarders quickly took the lead through Troy Parrott after a blunder by Viteszlav Jaros. The Irishman takes full advantage of the goalkeeper.
The ball is rolling in Alkmaar!
Telstar is dangerous there again. Jeff Hardeveld can hit hard, but collides with goalkeeper Jonas Wendlinger. The people of Velsen pose the most danger so far.
Almere City gets another great opportunity through Ferdy Druijf. The striker throws the ball over the goal (fortunately for Telstar).
Jochem Ritmeester van de Kamp, the mercenary of Almere City, gets a great opportunity. Unfortunately for Telstar, he cannot shoot the ball into the goal from close range.
What a start for Telstar! The ball is in the net after 24 seconds. Milan Zonneveld is the scorer of the first goal of this cup evening.
It is already his fifth goal in the KNVB Cup and that makes him top scorer with Siemen Krikke (VV Hoogeveen).
We started in Almere. Can Telstar reach the quarter finals?
