Head held higha successful return to the past
The debut of Head held high with a 25.2% share and 4,035,000 viewers it represents one of the best recent results for a Mediaset drama. It hasn’t happened since at least the decade 2000-2010. In recent years, when things were going well, Canale 5’s Italian series reached 15%. Exceeding 25% is a rare and precious figure for Mediaset which, for a few seasons now, has chosen to focus on Turkish series to balance the disappointing ratings of TV series made in Italy.
Even the choice to bring forward the broadcast by a few days compared to The Principal, which on Rai 1 tells the story of another school director, played by Luisa Ranieri, it certainly helped with the debut. SThey are different stories, it’s true, but the competition “on the role” has sparked the curiosity of the public.
A (perhaps) unexpected ratings success
It must be said that Head held highdespite its success, didn’t even have a promotion worthy of it. There was no launch press conference and Sabrina Ferilli gave only one interview to TV Smiles and Songs, without doing the “classic” promotional hosts. She didn’t even go to Very trueas might be expected.
But Head held high also achieved excellent results in streaming on demand on Mediaset Infinity which, added to the prime time audience figures, gives hope for a new direction for fiction. It is no coincidence that another series has been announced in recent days which will start soon on Canale 5, A new lifewith Anna Valle and Daniele Pecci.
