Good news from the family of Formula 1 driver Jules Bianchi, who died in 2015. After several karts were stolen from the family’s private property at the beginning of the year, at least one of them has now been found. Father Philippe announced this on social media.
“I can announce with great joy that Jules’ kart has been found. It is a great relief for our entire family,” wrote Philippe Bianchi on Facebook. “A big thank you to everyone who spread the news, to the media who reported it and to the police in Brignoles for their intervention.”
Some of the stolen karts are still missing, said Bianchi, “but thanks to you I have great hope.”
A few days ago, Philippe Bianchi put out a call for help on Facebook after several karts were stolen from private property, including the last of his son, which has now resurfaced. “Apart from the value of the machines, it is the sentimental value that hurts us. If anyone sees JB-17 karts in circulation, please let us know,” he wrote.
The family set up a foundation after the tragic death of their son. The aim is to enable young people to get into motorsport. A place in karting is usually the basis for this.
Bianchi dies after a serious Formula 1 accident
Jules Bianchi died in 2015 after a tragic accident during the Formula 1 race in Suzuka, Japan. At that time, he lost control of his car under a yellow flag and, on wet roads, slid into the rear of a recovery vehicle that was used to recover the car from Adrian Sutil, who had previously had an accident.
Bianchi survived the original crash, but after emergency surgery he had to be put into an artificial coma from which he never woke up. On November 19, the parents announced that their son could breathe on his own again, but eight months later he died from his serious injuries.
