Thomas Erdbrink, like Ahmed Aboutaleb and Astrid Holleeder, was announced as one of the regular guests of RTL Tonight, but we never saw him at the desk there. “Very strange.”
RTL Tonight announced it last summer with a lot of fanfare: all the big names would be there to explain to the country how it all works. Ahmed Aboutaleb was back at the desk last night after a long absence, Astrid Holleeder is back at home knitting socks and Thomas Erdbrink? It has never been seen.
Where is Thomas?
TV authority Tina Nijkamp asks in her podcast Tina’s TV Update wonder what happened to Thomas. “Why hasn’t Thomas Erdbrink been a guest on RTL Tonight yet? Yes, that is a very strange story actually.”
She continues: “Thomas Erdbrink was widely announced as one of the permanent interpreters and a few years ago also as one of the Videoland faces, but so far I have not seen anything on Videoland – his documentary series will be launched there at the beginning of this year, if all goes well – but he has not yet been shown on RTL Tonight.”
‘It’s striking’
According to Tina, many viewers wonder. “Everyone expects that, so I also get a lot of DM questions about that: why isn’t he there? I wouldn’t know. What I do know is that RTL Tonight has really gotten rid of those permanent announcers.”
RTL Tonight is now back to what the talk shows Beau, Humberto and Renze were before, without too many permanent speakers. “Of course they still have a number of signers who were always with Humberto or Renze or Beau in the old format.”
Anna and Twan
Only the old regular guests remain, Tina notices. “Anna Gimbrère was already there and so was Twan Huys, so those people will stay, but we will never actually see the people they attracted, such as Astrid Holleeder and Ahmed Aboutaleb, again. That is striking.”
“We have never seen Thomas Erdbrink, who often sat with Beau, Humberto or Renze. I don’t know why, but that’s a shame.”
