Renault Filante starts from South Korea: it is the first market that the French company has chosen for the debut of the new maxi-SUV, produced in the Busan factory: it is the flagship of the range intended for non-European markets, according to the strategy for 2027. Within the long-term planning, it is the fifth of eight vehicles announced with which the transalpine company intends to expand its international presence. The name has non-trivial historical references: it recalls theEtoile Filante (streamer) from 1956, a record-breaking experimental vehicle with aeronautical inspirations, which set several speed records. For the record, it reached speeds of up to 300 km/h over short distances. Furthermore, Renault took something from the Filante Record concept, an electric propulsion technological laboratory that achieved the objectives set by the technicians, demonstrating great efficiency in high-speed travel. “Streamline redefines the codes of the segment: in a category where status and practicality traditionally go hand in hand, we have added the emotional component with a charismatic profile that catches the eye. Extended at the rear, it stands out for its coupé style while in the wake of the brand’s latest creations, the bodywork is both muscular and tapered. Every single detail is taken care of with precision and adds a “tech” dimension, just like the luminous signature and the grille studded with lozenges”. This is the identity card of the new maxi-SUV according to Laurens Van Den Ackers, Renault’s design director.

THREE DISPLAYS

The longest car in the Renault range – 491 cm long with a wheelbase of 282 cm – focuses heavily on a cabin characterized by comfort, technology and perceived quality. It boasts a large, horizontal dashboard that integrates three panoramic displays of 12.3″ each (driver display, central display, passenger screen), which form a homogeneous whole called OpenR Panorama Screen. The device is completed by the 25.6″ head-up display in augmented reality. The fixed glass roof is a distinctive element: with a surface area of 1.1 m2, it is one of the largest in the segment. The atmosphere is refined due to the materials used and the comfort of the seats, with great attention to detail, see the smartphone and tablet supports fixed behind the backrest of the front seats. The three-zone climate control is the flagship, which allows you to adjust the temperature even at the rear. Generous trunk which can reach 2,071 liters with the seats folded down while in the basic configuration 654 liters are available.

THE CMA PLATFORM

Filante inherits the fundamental characteristics of the Cma platform, in terms of driving performance, soundproofing, comfort and safety, already highly appreciated by Koleos customers. Under the bonnet, the Full Hybrid E-Tech 250 HP engine allows for smooth and high-performance electrified driving, without charging constraints. It is based on a series-parallel hybrid architecture, capable of operating in 100% electric, thermal or hybrid mode depending on conditions. The system combines a 1.5 direct injection turbo petrol engine with 150 HP and 250 Nm torque with two electric motors (60 and 100 kW) integrated with DHT Pro automatic transmission, for a combined power of 250 HP and a total torque that can reach 565 Nm. According to the manufacturer, the intelligent management system of the Full Hybrid E-Tech allows you to save up to 50% of fuel in real use compared to petrol engines non-hybrid equivalents. On the safety front, the program Human First reflects Renault’s commitment to increasing the protection of vehicle occupants, but also of other road users. Thus the new Filante can count on latest generation Adas developed by the Group, brought together under the Renault name Easy Drive. In total, over 30 driving assistance devices are available depending on the version, almost an absolute record.
