The former goalscorer is almost completely left out at RB Leipzig. Now his departure to the MLS is imminent.
Timo Werner could soon play in Major League Soccer (MLS). According to The Athletic, the San José Earthquakes are interested in signing the 29-year-old from RB Leipzig.
In the current Bundesliga season, Werner was only used for 13 minutes. The club informed him in the summer that they were no longer relying on him. His contract with Leipzig ends in the summer.
Before returning to Leipzig, Werner spent a year and a half on loan at Tottenham Hotspur. A planned move to New York Red Bulls failed in the summer.
Between 2017 and 2023, Werner played 57 international matches for Germany and scored 24 goals. He won the Champions League with Chelsea FC in 2021. A move to San Jose Earthquakes could be a much-needed reset for him.
