The Chinese company updates its plug-in hybrid range to respond to new tax regulations. Four models that exceed 2 thousand km of total mileage
Byd is preparing to introduce a significant update on the internal market to the range of plug-in hybrid cars. A tactical and forced choice following the tightening of the technical requirements required in China to be entitled to state incentives.
The technology

The new versions of the Qin Plus Dm-i, Qin L Dm-i, Seal 05 Dm-i and Seal 06 Dm-i models will benefit from this. All equipped with larger battery packs (rechargeable from 10 to 80% in 20 minutes) capable of homologating a range in 100% electric mode of more than 210 km. An evident success which effectively doubles the current standard and which allows the average home-work journey to be covered for several days without the need to recharge or start the combustion engine. A record that also involves the overall declared autonomy which, by combining the electric unit with the petrol one, reaches 2,110 km. As for cutting the battery this will be 25.3 kWh. An interesting fact, also because it overlaps with those that were the first generations of 100% electric cars. For power we are talking about a 1.5 liter aspirated combustion engine with 99 HP in combination with a 120 kW electric unit (equal to 163 HP).
THE NEW REGULATION
—
A technical update that is not accidental: Beijing has indeed revised the criteria for obtaining tax breaks on the so-called New Energy Vehiclesraising the minimum electric range requirement for plug-in hybrids and that passes from 43 to 100 km starting this year. The Chinese brand has not yet communicated the official price lists of the updated versions, but it should be highlighted that the current models today start from very competitive figures on the domestic market, around 79,800 yuan (just over 10 thousand euros at the current exchange rate). It remains to be seen whether and how soon this new technology will be developed extended range will be transferred to models destined for export to Europe, where it could constitute a strong competitive advantage in the sedan and D-SUV segment.
